Restoration of the roof in an urban house in the protected historical centre of Tavira. The roof is a typical pavilion roof. The wooden structure was replaced by a new one, keeping with the original construction technique and the wood protected against termites and other harmful insects with WOODBLISS. The layers consist of the following: cane boarding traditionally hand bound as a breathable air resistance level + a layer of vapour barrier + sheet + under shingle sheet + protection against scaling, a glued vapour barrier membrane was applied, along with wood fibre sheets (e.g. Pavatex) as thermal insulation against summer heat and finally the traditional cane roofing.
